Have you ever tried plastic-smithing? Join Deborah Beck to create your own recycled artwork using discarded single-use plastics.
Join Jeweller and ACJ member Deborah Beck in the gallery for a demonstration and drop-in workshop from 2pm - 4pm to learn how to make your own recycled creations, transforming discarded single-use plastics.
Deborah’s jewellery combines her environmental concerns with her silver and plastic-smithing skills to create sustainable wearable art, from recycled metals and discarded waste materials. Collecting single-use plastic litter which she finds on her daily walks along the river, she recycles them entirely by hand in her home studio, creating her own repurposed raw material which she refines and sets in recycled silver structures. Her work elevates the un-wanted into high-end contemporary jewellery without the high cost to the earth.
Workshop participants will have the opportunity to see and feel samples of Deborah’s innovative plastic smithing before having a go at making a small artwork or a sample with repurposed plastics.
If you have any clean plastic bottle tops you have collected at home, please feel free to bring them with you on the day.
